Coffee & Food
Here we'll share some of our favorite locations to get food and coffee, remember that this is a 'big' island, so be ready for lots of adventures if you plan to try it all.

Our favorite coffee is the Red Catuai, in a medium roast. They have many awards for best coffee on the islands. A small coffee shop and retail store is located on their farm, just minutes down the road.
Miranda's Farms

Maybe the best Thai food in the world. The food tastes like they just picked the ingredients by hand..so fresh. Plan some extra time or call ahead, cooked to order so sometimes it takes 45 mins to get food, you will not be disappointed!

Such a special place on the island... and they grow many different fruits and plants here, including coffee. The views are unreal and the curator is one of the most kind and loving people in the world.

Best coffee 'personality' on the island, the team at So'k is up early to make your morning better. Awesome coffee (I also like the nitro), baked goods and food items. Located 1 hour north of our house, we ALWAYS stop on the way to Kona.

My wife's favorite coffee shop is in the quaint town of Na'alehu, the Southernmost town in the USA.
If they have it, she also loves a slice of the butter mochi ;)

'It's just a hot dog' says NO ONE EVER after eating at Big Dogs. Try the Portuguese dog with crispy cheese on a sweet Hawaiian bun...wow! Located along the road near South Point, it's a great decision to stop here anytime.

On Hilo-side of the island this is our go-to shop. Great coffee (Ka'u beans are our fav), pastries and snacks. They roast here also, and the cafe has a great vibe.
Big Island Coffee Roasters

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder...once you have them and then leave the island you'll understand. Get the 3-taco plate with Ono (local) fish on crispy cheese tortilla, a life changer.

Here's a fav restaurant for us up in Waikoloa Village (north of Kona). Excellent food, a great ambiance, and unique hand-crafted drinks. Aloha!

Black Rock Pizza, excellent pizza, located about 30 mins south of Kona, they have a gluten-free crust pizza that is maybe best in the world! Great food and service (make sure to read the signs in the bathroom ;), and a perfect location to enjoy the sunset at dinner.

Hawaiian Coffee has a unique ube cream you can add to your coffee (I like it on Nitro or an Americano), along with great pastries; try the avo-toast options! Multiple locations.
